RCC Institute Of Information Technology for Non AICTE Courses

The bridge to industry & Gateway to Higher study

Background

RCC Institute of Technology (RCCIT), a Society formed and managed by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, has newly introduced this institute in 2021 to address the increasing demand for non-engineering bachelor's degree programs in IT.
The first institute under the Society, RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT), was established in 1999 through a collaboration between the Regional Computer Centre (RCC), Calcutta of National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Communication & IT, Government of India, and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. In 2005-06, the management of RCCIIT was taken over by the Society.

RCCIIT offers AICTE approved programs affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (erstwhile WBUT). It is the only self-financing engineering college under the State administrative control, where the Board of Management (BOM) is directly constituted by the State Government. The State Government has played a significant role in the institute's development since its inception. RCCIIT operates on- 4.63 acres of land centrally located in Kolkata and leased by the State Government. It boasts excellent infrastructure and teaching-learning resources. The faculty and staff are offered competitive pay structures as per State Government norms and are given ample opportunities for research and self-development so as to ensure dedicated and high quality service to the students.

RCCIIT offers five undergraduate and three postgraduate engineering programs, along with a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program. Among the undergraduate programs, all four eligible programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Additionally, RCCIIT holds NAAC B++ accreditation. The institute has a consistent placement record due to its active industry partnerships and regular emphasis on imparting coding skills and cutting-edge skills to the students.

Currently, the second institute, RCC Institute of Information Technology (Non-AICTE) has been established by the Society on the surplus land in the campus of RCCIIT. This institute presently offers two undergraduate degree programs - Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science. Both the courses are affiliated to MAKAUT and follow CBCS pattern but don't require approval of AICTE. Following NEP recommendation and UGC directive these 3-years Bachelors courses are now getting transformed to 4-years courses with more flexibility and dimensionality.

With the establishment of the second institute, there is a clear objective to meet the increasing demand for skilled non-engineering graduates in the IT industry. Given RCCIIT's reputation for quality education and consistent placement outcomes, it is expected that these Non-AICTE courses will be highly sought after. The institute remains dedicated to provide industry-relevant education and skill training so as to ensure that the graduates are well-prepared for rewarding careers. Leading industrialists and academicians in the region are in the Board of Governors (BOG) of RCCIIT (Non-AICTE). It will be the constant endeavor of the BOG to further expand the array of non-engineering programs offered by the institute while ensuring provision of adequate resources, industry handholding and quality control to live up to the high standard set forth by RCCIIT through 24 years of experience in professional academics.

Both the institutes RCCIIT and RCCIIT (Non-AICTE) foster a green and eco-friendly environment while following a culture of traditional academic practices, high ethical standards, and strong teacher-student bonding. This nurturing environment encourages students to explore their creativity and strive for excellence.

Chairman's Desk

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As the Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the Non-AICTE unit of RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT), it gives me great pleasure to address you all and share some important information about our institute.

RCCIIT (Non AICTE), established in 2020, has been making significant strides in providing quality education at degree level as per NEP recommendation. Our primary goal is to nurture and develop graduates who possess exceptional professional values, skills, and expertise in different domains of Computer Science and Information Technology. We are affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, ensuring that our programs maintain the highest standards of academic excellence.

It is important to acknowledge the rich heritage of RCC Jadavpur University and the able management led by an Autonomous Society formed by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. This legacy has been instrumental in shaping the success of RCCIIT. We have been running degree engineering programs with four NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accredited B Tech programs and have received accreditation from NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). For the past 24 years, we have been producing quality professionals who contribute to the nation's development with unwavering dedication, care, and discipline.

At RCCIIT Non AICTE, with the college code 377 of MAKAUT WB, we are committed to enhancing our students' academic journey and ensuring their competitiveness in the job market. We strive to collaborate with industries and offer additional academic courses on recent technologies. By doing so, we aim to equip our students with specialized knowledge and skills that will set them apart when they graduate from our institution.

I encourage all students to actively engage in the various opportunities provided by RCCIIT. Make the most of the excellent faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and congenial academic atmosphere available to you. Take advantage of the additional courses or modules that we plan to offer in collaboration with industries. These initiatives will broaden your horizons, strengthen your expertise, and prepare you for the challenges of the ever-evolving technological landscape.

In conclusion, I extend my gratitude to all the stakeholders of RCCIIT (Non AICTE), including the faculty, staff, students, and the governing body members, for their continuous support and dedication. Principal's Desk

Greetings of the day and warm welcome to all who are viewing this website!!

This new institute RCCIIT (Non-AICTE) is a sister institute of RCCIIT and is run by the same autonomous Society (RCCIT) of State Govt. that runs RCCIIT and quite naturally inherits the same culture of traditional academic practice, procedural transparency, high ethical standard and human values.

The institute has started its journey with two undergraduate degree programs namely, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science. Both the courses are affiliated to MAKAUT under college code 377. In future new programs are likely to be offered in the emerging fields of IT like Cyber Security, IOT, AI, Data Science and even in Management domain. It is always challenging to establish the credentials of a new institute and new course, but I sincerely believe that this institute will thrive upon the strong foundation built by RCCIIT over the years.

The students who have got admitted and will be admitted in this institute will rely on the standard and reputation of RCCIIT. Practically, the students are getting the same flavour - the academic discipline yet the space for creativity, ample scope for hands-on skilling and new technology learning besides enjoying college life through different extracurricular activities. Emphasis is given on experiential learning through projects, industrial training and internships. Like the B.Tech students, the BCA and B.Sc (CS) students will be offered the course modules on AI/ML designed by Intel from the very first year with provision for certification by Intel. At the same time they can get certifications by the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt. of India by undergoing courses on Cloud, Python, Computer Vision, CAD-CAM, Drone, Web Tech etc. Also the students are always encouraged to look for state-of-the-art courses of Swayam/NPTEL/ NASSCOM.

While the first batch of students is about to prepare for jobs as they proceed to their final year, a dedicated Training & Placement team is formed to arrange training on aptitude and technical skill including coding skill tested by the industries. The team has started working on fixing company line up for campus interviews. Needless to mention that the experience and expertise of RCCIIT in consistently placing its students in reputed IT companies will be used here to the fullest extent to make 100% placement of its students. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Institutes Innovation Council (IIC) are some of the central facilities that are taking care of any innovations and entrepreneurial aspirations of the students by creating proper platforms for nurturing the talents.
It is rather late compared to the competitors that RCCIIT has ventured into formal Non-AICTE courses but given the demand of such courses, particularly BCA, the institute will soon establish the quality of its outcome and secure its position as one of the top institutes of its kind.

I welcome all the young aspirants to come and join this institute and have an enjoyable and fruitful journey towards building the foundation of their professional career.
